GUESS WHAT!!
We've been extended callings. They want Chris to be Cub Scout Master and I get to be a den mother!! We're thrilled.
Seriously, we keep looking at each other and grinning because it'll be so much fun. I guess this means that there's a standing invitationfor Robert to come sing his chicken song to the 4 boys who make up ourpack. :)
In other news, the weather has still been gorgeous and most of the trees still have their leaves, even though they are really starting to change colors. We rollerbladed along the river again last night to enjoy the leaves, although this time we went farther away from campus, because most of campus was in a drunken celebration after the Buckeyes won their game last night.
Ellie and I visited a living historical farm with some of the sisters in our ward. It's about 45 minutes southeast of Columbus, but it was really quite interesting. To get there we went through about fifteen miles of rollercoaster hills and then three acres of sugar maples that they use to make maple syrup. They were making molasses the day thatwe were there, and we got to see sorghum (the plant that molasses ismade out of). Ellie really loved the animals, especially the pig, who came right up to us and oinked. The two little boys we were therewith were a little scared of the pig, but Ellie oinked right back. She also liked petting a calf and a horse, baaing at the sheep and calling ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys and a rooster ducks.
We're still getting settled in, but most of my spare time is spent chasing Ellie around or working on my thesis (I finished two more chapters this week!)
Chris is working on a group project for one of his classes with a student from India. Next week he gets to tour the reactor and he has his first test–yikes.
