It’s three PM on a gorgeous spring Sunday and we’re just waiting for Moira to wake up from her church-made-me-miss-my-morning-nap-and-I-fell-asleep-in-my-carseat doze so we can get outside for a walk to enjoy the weather. The house is quiet—Ellie and I are having our “quiet time” together and Chris is eating a mini-carrot cake I made for Sunday dessert. It’s been a quiet week with not a ton to report. We’ve been doing a lot of the things that two-year-olds like best (going to the park and the library, running wild outside, having picnics with real and pretend food, swimming in the blow-up pool, and reading books) and we’ve been doing some things that two-year-olds don’t like, too (going to bed, eating anything other than mac & cheese, breakfast, or fruit). Life is good. Quiet, but good.
Chris’s math class continues to keep him on his toes and Ellie continues to keep me on mine-especially because she seems to like playing with the rowdy boys of our neighborhood instead of the cute little girls. It will be interesting to see how much longer “Ev” (aka Evan) and “Hen-Hen” (aka Henry) will keep letting her mix playing house with sword fighting. Moira watches all of us, cooing with her looooong tongue sticking out of her happy smile. I think we fall more in love with her and her easy laugh every day.
Chris and I also went on a date last night, taking advantage of the new babysitting swap some of our friends arranged. It was so nice to be able to go out that we completely forgot about the chaos it was to have two other kids invade our house a few weeks ago.
I hear Moira stirring, so I’m off to feed her and then we’ll walk.
