Stephanie took me letterboxing for the first time today and I'm hooked. For those of you not familiar with letterboxing (like me before today), someone hides a waterproof container with a notebook and a stamp in a public place and then leaves directions to find it in a public place. When you find it, you stamp their stamp in your notebook and stamp their notebook with your own. Stephanie had a really neat stamp she made herself and the stamps in the letterboxes we found were also handmade and really intricate.
Today we tramped through a wooded area at Whetstone park, so it was fairly secluded. But there are also letter boxes "hidden" in busy public places, so you have to be careful not to attract attention to the letterbox or it might get stolen.
Here are Stephanie, Creed, and Ellie climbing over a rounded rock to look for the letterbox:

Ta da! They found it:

I'm really excited to look for letterboxes in the places we go this summer. And I'm all ready thinking of fun places I could leave one of my own!
