Doctor's office update

I'm playing chauffeur for my dad at a doctor's appointment this afternoon while my mom watches the girls. The waiting room has a computer with the internet (how cool is that? Make a note all you soon-to-be doctor's wives!!) so I thought I'd give a quick update on our going ons, since I rarely get a quiet moment with the computer these days.

Turns out Chris has to take a test in Taylorsville on the way east, so the girls and I decided to extend our visit here in Utah and shave 10 hours off our car ride. So, that means I still don't have our camera, so if you were going to scan for photos, I apologize in advance. In compensation, I offer you this gift: We will be back in Ohio September 15th.

I wish I could download some pictures of my friend Jenica's kids playing with Ellie and Moira. 20 month old "G" kept "reading" to Moira, and Ellie was ready to take up residenc until I bribed her out with the promise of a photoshoot with her new idol: 5 year old "E". It was so nice to reconnect with a friend from high school--I love that our kids got along so well!

I'm really getting ansty to get back to our own space where my kids have toys to play with other than me. (Although I'm tempering that feeling by reminding myself that we all will miss my incredible family who consistently drops everything to oogle over my sweet girls). I'm also looking forward to being with Chris again--this separation seems much longer than I thought it would.

I'm planning all sorts of fun things in my head that I really hope to keep up with. For example, Ellie and I have gotten hooked on letterboxing (we even placed our first box! YAY!), and I want to be more diligent with teaching/play ideas. For example: I'm going to start a theme a week (probably following Kids Craft Weekly) where we read books and do crafts about a subject and learn some letters to go along with it.

I'm also getting ready to channel some of my HGTVed mind into home improvement projects. We have a cute kid's table that I want to refinish and I am going to finally bring some order to our bedroom with a headboard and bedding and nightstands.

And I'm going to start running more often, want to come?

And I'm going to start doing project Thursdays, where Thursday afternoon is dedicated to doing fun crafts or projects and you can come over and bring your crafts and your kids and we'll let the children run wild while we talk and eat yummy goodies. It'll be great.

And I'm excited for Ellie to start preschool.

And I'm so excited to go back to book club.

And Angie's got me thinking about throwing a pumpkin patch party around Moira's birthday. I'm picturing the aforementioned hayrides, as well as face painting, and maybe that bean bag game where you throw the bean bags through the hole in the board (what is that called anyway?), and of course, a pumpkin recipe contest with awards.

Anybody have any other ideas that would be fun?

Well, here in Ohio the bean bags are usually full of corn so we call the game Corn Hole. Pretty original, huh? I can't wait for project Thursdays!
