On Wednesday morning Chris headed off to Chicago for some job training. His plane to Salt Lake was supposed to leave at 6:30, but it was delayed because of bad weather, so he ended up on the tarmack for 2 hours before he finally took off. By the time he got to Utah, his plane to O'Hare had either been cancelled or he'd missed it, so they put him on a later flight that afternoon. But of course this was during a snowstorm, so his next flight was delayed and delayed and then finally cancelled as well. But, he had Really Important Unmissable Meetings the next day, so he took a redeye to Atlanta (also delayed) and then another flight into Chicago Midway (you guessed it, delayed as well). Which means that he was traveling for 27 hours non stop. Yuck. I guess he was glad that I didn't make him take the girls.
While he was gone, I busied myself by changing out most of the original 1970's light fixtures in Robert and Marianne's house. Oh my goodness, it was fun, and really not hard at all. Every light fixture has three wires white, black and a grounding wire and every light box has three wires--white, black and a grounding wire. Connect them with their color coded partner (with the power off from the fuse board of course) and you have a new light. Plus you get to feel just a little like WonderWoman because you held electricity in your hand and tamed it into a new beast. If I had more forsight, I would have taken pictures. But instead, I just keep dragging people around and having them look up and then ooh and ahh.
What else is new? Hm . . . Moira has become fascinated with the toilet. She has to sit on it at least once a day. Nothing happens, but she still says "Yay!" for herself afterwards. Not sure what to make of that. She is also protected from the dishwashing detergent by a cabinet lock that I installed so no more soap on the floor.
The girls and I also watched Chris practice with his new basketball team. This mostly meant that Ellie rolled a ball up and down a ramp while Moira yelled "BALL!" and "HI DA!" to distract Chris.
Ellie learned about the letter P this week at preschool which meant two of her favorite things: Popcorn and Painting, so she was a happy camper there.
And that's all I can think of. We're closing on the house this week, which I'm really excited about, but I guess that means we're not headed back to Columbus, which makes me really sad. Everyone go to a political rally for me, and to Cosi, and eat at Hoggy's, and enjoy the library system, and rollerblade down the river. Just do it for me, okay?
Oh yes, and also it is very, very, very, very windy here. The temperatures have been up in the 50's but with wind gusts up to 8 million miles an hour (this is a scientific fact), I can't take the girls out without worrying that Moira will blow away. Don't believe me that it's windy--the car doors have blown shut on me twice, and then another time it blew open and whacked into a post at the gas station. And I haven't needed a blow drier all week.

i love all the things that you want people to do for you in ohio. heck, even i want to fly to ohio so that i can do them for you!
hope chris blew home safely.
my word verification is weeeecx. could they make it more difficult? really?
Love that you are a Wire Wonder Woman on your own and it is so cute that Moira sits on the toilet and then says "Yay!" after doing nothing. The beginning stages of potty training right?!
