Friday

Why is it that I never seem to get around to posting until the weekend, when other people have lives and won't read my post and leave me comments that make me so happy? Not that I'm writing for the comments, people. Blogging is art. Riiiight.

So, we're doing fine, I guess. We're past the stage of bumping into all our stuff (mostly) and now are just bumping into each other. Ellie and I are both so stir crazy from having no friends yet that we make each other cry at least once a day. Ah, estrogen--it starts early. We make each other laugh, too, though. Like today when she styled my hair and she told me "Mommy, it really helps me do your hair when you don't cry." Wonder where she's heard that before. Speaking of doing "hair", Moira also likes having her hair done. She finds the elastics that Ellie pulls out, brings them to me and then requests "hair." So we go to the bathroom and she sits still and mesmerized, except for saying "ow ow ow!" at the top of her lungs. She watches Ellie, that's for sure.

What else? Chris installed a garage door opener (yay Chris) and we are parking our new van in the garage. (Our first--van and garage). I did not really want a van, but now that we have it, it is ok. Big enough to bring home five shelf bookshelves from Target, so that wins it a point. $45 for a fill up, so that makes it lose a point.

Having movers was a nice thing, if for no other reason than we got a new vacuum. Usually when things break when you move, you get sad, but I kept clapping with glee when I found breakage because Chris's company paid for full replacement insurance.

Let's see, five, six? book reviews that I need to post. They are written, but nothing I'm very excited about, so I don't feel a pressing need to post them.

Not in the mood to wrestle blogger with photos, so I'll take you on a tour soon. Here's the balance of work done so far: Ceiling light kit added to fan, three rooms painted, four sets of curtains/blinds added, one duvet cover made, one bedskirt made, one large corner bookcase painted white (mostly), some pictures hung. I'm trying to decide if we're adding value or subtracting it. We scratched the linoleum in the girls bathroom (minus), but that garage door opener has to count for something. (yay Chris)

Feeling kind of blah. A little lonely. I've been trying to keep uberbusy so I wouldn't notice it so much, but all the pressing/fun stuff is done, so now I have to face facts. Chris and I remind each other that it takes 6 months before you start feeling comfortable in a place, but I want it to be faster.

So I went running today. I'm still looking for a parter to train for a half marathon with me. Probably I shouldn't start out like that. I should say I'm looking for a jogging partner to go for half mile distances. Twenty six half mile distances. In a row. By July. Please.

And that ends my rambling. Except for this: I am not a vegetarian, but I think I could be. There are bulk bins at my favorite new store here and I got all giddy over the dry hummus mix. Yum.

Henry still talks about Ellie all the time. I guess he had a good conversation about Ellie with Mrs. Erbaugh. She couldn't possibly miss her as much as Henry, because she is not marrying Ellie. I'm jealous of the van, garage and house.

Kassie has also told her babysitter at Jazzercise all about Ellie. She's missed. Cool, sporting a van now huh!

Congrats on the new van (and garage). As Yard Sale Season is approaching I just keep thinking how cool it would be to have a vehicle that we could actually take things home in! Miss you guys -- don't worry six months will fly and you'll be swarming with friends!

I think it'll be faster than 6 months for you. You're great. Hang in there! It'll be easier to make friends in the spring/summer when you can be out and about more and doing fun things.

And I love Ellie telling you it's easier to do hair when you're not crying. So sweet.

Hey Reba!
Miss you! I'm glad you discovered my blog. We find out on Thursday what the next 4 years will bring.
Yes, 6 months seems long now, but it will hurry by as soon as it is Spring! Love you all!

6 months, hun? That's true, very true...it WILL go fast. Does your favorite new store start with, um, a W by chance? I would drive down just for their bulk bins. There is a store here that has bulk bins. You can buy vanilla beans for $500/lb. No, I didn't forget a decimal or add an extra zero.
Anyway, what half marathon are you aiming for?
