After 2 PM

Chris has this theory that you won't get anything substantial done after 2 PM, which, although a bit pessimistic, is probably good advice.

However, today at 2:45, Clark was sleeping and the girls were having a play date with 3 kids from down the street. So, I started taking everything out of my disorganized pantry and stacking it on my counter. And then the kids decided that they were done being dinosaurs and they wanted to make kites on the kitchen table. Ok, no problem.

So they're making kites and I'm about half way done with the pantry when Clark woke up, screaming, so I fed him while handing out string and tape for the kites and then tried to set him down, but he wasn't having it. By this time, I was on the baking shelf, moving around 5 lb bags of flour and canisters of oatmeal when the phone rang. I went to get it with Clark on my hip and he acted like he wanted to get down, so I set him on the floor and went back to the kitchen while chatting on the phone.

The neighbor kids went home and I got another shelf arranged and was about to start cleaning the pantry floor when I heard the noise of a drawer opening and then Clark saying "HI!" And I heard this again. And again. So cute! I thought, and kept arranging. But then I decided to check on him because the only drawers we have that I can hear open and close are in the bathroom, and Clark really shouldn't be in the bathroom alone . . .

Because he's playing in the toilet with the rest of the roll of toilet paper. And he looked so proud of himself that I had to laugh as I scooped him up and put him in the bathtub. After he was clean and diapered, I took him back to the kitchen where he crawled over and unpeeled the onions while I finished the pantry.

All of this is just to say that after 2 PM today I cleaned my pantry and gave Clark a bath in addition to making dinner and going to the bookmobile. The end.

Very impressed! How's that for productivity after two.
