Remember last year, when instead of playing in the spray at fountain parks, Ellie splashed in the puddle of water collecting near the drain? And she'd scream with unearthly terror when the water actually touched her? And how when it was time to go home, I'd wonder if it was ok to reuse her still dry swim diaper?
Well, not anymore!
This week she splashed with Evan, Henry, Calvin, and Kassie at the Avery Road Fountains. She ran between the spray and hugged the water fall and did the backstroke in the puddle by the drain. And she was soaked at the end--hair and everything. No kidding. She even got the towel wet when we dried off. I was so proud of my brave little grown up almost three year old.
And then, in the car she cried "I want a friend! I want a BOY friend!" all the way home.
Grown up indeed.

I wonder which little boy she was thinking of . . . she has a few cute ones to choose from!
adorable! i love when they fall in love with water. when you have to pry their prunish little hands off of the sprinkler. and their little bodies shake from cold and exhaustion. ;-D
No boy friends till she's 48, and then we'll think about it . . . maybe
