Week in Review

Chris had to leave for a conference Monday afternoon during a downpour and my mood was just as stormy. Anyone who's been to a conference will tell me that they aren't that exciting or wonderful, but I really wanted a break from kids and cleaning and not sleeping well. So, the girls and I took a break while Chris was gone, too. We had really simple meals and played outside a lot, and didn't put any pressure on ourselves to keep the house spotlessly clean. It was great!

Tuesday morning Ellie went to preschool. I took Moira to do a few errands and then visit with an adorable collie puppy at PetCo. The store has little booths where you can play with the dogs. I don't know who was more excited--Moira or the puppy. It was adorable. Our power was turned off Tuesday, so Ellie and I picked up Wendy's for lunch and after our no-movie-lay-down rest, we played toys together and then spent some time outside with friends. I was able to get the girls in bed by myself without too much trouble and I spent part of Tuesday evening writing.

Wednesday we went to the zoo with some friends from the ward. I'm not a big fan of zoos, but the Columbus zoo is nice, and they have a fabulous play area where the girls went nuts and really had a ton of fun. The slide that Mom and Dad got last year has been great because Moira thinks she's a big girl who can play on toys herself. It's so much fun to watch! During Moira's nap, Ellie and I made cookies and cleaned up our mess from the last few days. To keep the house neat, we went swimming almost until it was time to pick up Chris from the airport. Moi kept saying "Da!" when she saw him and it was nice to have Chris back.

Around 1 am, Chris picked up our friend and his old roommate, Steve, from the airport! Yay!

Thursday Moira and I took Steve to the Anthony Thomas candy factory while Chris went up to school to finish an assignment and Ellie played at preschool. Ellie was in charge of treats (cookies and strawberries) and she got to be the line leader. Moira, Steve, and I got to eat free buckeyes and watch chocolates being made. We went out to lunch at Raising Cane's where Moira learned to dip french fries. She also learned that she doesn't really like peppery fry sauce. That afternoon the guys went golfing while Moira, Ellie, and I went swimming once again (the weather was beautiful) and made cinnamon rolls.

Friday Steve led us on a long run and then the boys went to school. The girls and I walked over to the Borders near our house and read books, bought some Halloween decorations at Walgreens, and played at Henry's house. Chris and Steve went to Cedar Point to ride some of the biggest roller coasters in America, and I curled up with Eclipse, by Stephanie Meyer. Not exactly the best book to read while you're all alone at night, but a good read none-the-less.

By Saturday we were all partied out--the guys got home from Cedar Point around 2 AM!!--so we spent a quiet day at home. Steve bought me lunch (pizza and brazillian treats) for letting him take Chris away so much. Yum, thanks, Steve! Then we listened to conference and Ellie and I went out to get Halloween costume stuff during the break. We were all sad to see Steve leave.
