Is it May already?

Here's what happened at our house on Monday morning at 6:00 am:

I keep flipping back and forth between these pictures loving the look on Moira's face. Wasn't there a talk in conference about finding the joyful moments of motherhood? Well, this was a good one.

Preschool was at our house this week and we learned about the letter E. That's my favorite letter, Ellie declared. And so we had to do something spectacular. And spectacular we did--E is for Experiment. We had a short talk about scientists and reactions, then we talked about solids, liquids and gases. The kids helped me combine vinegar and baking soda (which did not impress them), and then we trapped the gas inside a balloon. Then we collected electricity from everyone on our balloon and picked up little pieces of tissue paper. Our last experiment involved pouring a whole heck of a lot of rock salt on bricks of ice and then comparing them to ice without salt 20 minutes later. They asked some good questions and were generally interested in "making something happen".

Also, we cleaned the church this week. Chris wore the ghostbusters backpack vacuum while Moira rearranged the hymn books and Ellie helped me clean fingerprints off the glass doors into the church. She was very disturbed that we were wiping off the kid's handprints. Because, you know, the kids will miss their handprints.

So glad you're having fun times at 6am! I tried your cookies. They are great, though I can't decide what I like more, the cookies or the cookie dough.

Always an adventure in the house when kids are up at 6 a.m. I remember those days, and luckily they are gone now. Maybe something about kids that age? I don't know...
