Batch Processing

One of the ways I've been working to simplify my life is batch processing.

Sounds scary, right? Really, it just means that I try to do things at specific times of day instead of running from one thing to the next (ie, doing things in batches). It also means there are specific days when I do specific things and specific times of day when I do specific things.

Sound confusing? The point is: I don't blog every day. I type up as many ideas as I have and then set them up to post using the post options feature in blogger.

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with this blog. I started it as a family history type thing, but I've found that I love the comments and conversation as well. So, if I've been thinking (a dangerous pastime, I know) I'll write whatever, but mostly it's my feeble attempt at a photo album. And also a way for me to sort and share the recipes I've been making. Above all, batch processing my blog helps me remember that I write to record my life and not write only for the comments.

Yes, I find it fascinating that I really think I do "write for myself" and "for my kids to enjoy when they're older," yet I am sad when I only get one or two comments.

I am all about writing tons of posts and then just setting them up to post throughout the week. saves a great deal of time for me.

It's fun to see people comment on the blog but I try hard not to write for them. I like the idea of a collection of my thoughts and ideas being recorded for future use. I would love to have a journal from my own mother at this stage of her life(ie the stage I'm in) My blog is the first time I've ever attempted and succeeded in keeping a journal:)

Reba,I totally get it. I go for weeks without a single comment and wonder if my life really is so dang boring that no one can think of a little comment to make. Almost as if they were saying, "Wow, you're right. Your life is lame and I have nothing to say about it."

But.....I changed the way that I was blogging about a year ago when I decided to TRY {although it doesn't always happen} to write something down every day. A little snippet about anything. Something that I don't want to forget. Sometimes there are photos, sometimes a recipe, sometimes just a random story that most people don't really want to read about.

Maybe it's not exciting to everyone else, but I LOVE going back a year or two and reading the little stories and am so glad that I took a minute to write them down so they weren't lost in the time warp of my life.

I personally love reading your blog and although I don't comment often I read everything you write :)
