Hey Reba! Love the new post! I've been waiting . . . :) We did sell our place for sale by owner in Ohio. What we actually did is paid a flat fee to list it on the MLS (where all the realtors check) at flatfleelisting.com And then we listed it ourselves on our blog and on Craigslist. We put signs up in the windows and made a nice flyer too that we sent out to BYU and other schools that send students to Ohio State (i.e. used the Mormon connection). But our buyer actually was someone who found us on Craigslist. So, I totally recommend listing it on there asap. So, I could answer any other questions you had. We also got a storage unit to stick stuff in so it looked more open. And we did have a realtor walk through it and give us feedback on what we should do before we listed it. We were thinking of listing with him, but then we decided to do it FSBO so I didn't feel so bad because we were legitimately interested in him as a realtor. Also--the most important thing we did (and got tips from realtors to do) is we followed up everyone who was interested our home. We got a lock box and gave realtors the code if they wanted to come by (cause they don't want to see your place if you're home). And then we'd call them and follow up for feedback--pretty much harrass them so they'd know we were interested . . . Anyhow--those and lots more tips if you need them.
